A Series on Women and Domestic Violence – Motivational Interviewing Skills

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This presentation will help counselors and others who work with survivors learn new skills in helping them empower survivors. Motivational interviewing is an important tool to help clients overcome resistance in taking positive steps. Participants will be introduced to methods to help victims decide to make positive change in their lives and find motivation to stop unhealthy relationships.
1.5 CEUs offered for LPC, LMFT, LCSW, and Clinical Psychologist.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES PRIOR TO THE EVENT. Check in will begin 15 minutes prior to the program beginning. Due to video filming, late attendees will be asked to view the presentation in the Green Room.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Elil is a graduate of Baylor University with a doctorate in clinical psychology. He has worked as a psychologist in substance abuse treatment, college counseling, and with victims of sexual and domestic violence. He has been in the Houston area for almost two years, including a year of internship at the University of Houston-Clear Lake Counseling Center. Dr. Elil is currently in private practice at Psychology Resources in League City. He provides individual therapy and psychological testing for adolescents and adults on a broad range of issues, including breaking the cycle of domestic violence.
